FALL RIVER, Mass. - Jurors will get to see Aaron Hernandezs trophy case when they visit his home during the former New England Patriots stars murder trial, a judge ruled Tuesday.Assistant District Attorney William McCauley had sought to have the case hidden, saying the defence wanted to get the benefit of having the jury be impressed by trophies or medals.Prosecutors also cited the O.J. Simpson murder trial in arguing that they wanted to avoid what they called strategic manipulation of the home. In the Simpson case, photographs and pictures were placed in the home to portray the defendant as a family man, and a Bible was placed on a table to play to jurors religious sympathies, prosecutors said in a court filing.Hernandezs lawyer, James Sultan, argued that the house should be shown to the jurors exactly the way it was at the time of Odin Lloyds death. The fact the Mr. Hernandez played for the Patriots, thats in the case, Sultan said. The trial is about the truth. This is the truth of his house.Fall River Superior Court Justice Susan Garsh agreed with the defence, saying the trophy case would remain uncovered.Jury selection is set to begin Friday for Hernandez, who has pleaded not guilty to killing Lloyd, a semiprofessional football player. Hernandez was a tight end for the Patriots with a $40 million contract when prosecutors say he killed Lloyd in an industrial park near his North Attleborough home in June 2013. Lloyd, 27, was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins.Hernandez also has pleaded not guilty in the fatal shootings of two men in 2012 after an encounter at a Boston nightclub. That case has not yet gone to trial. On Tuesday, Garsh also allowed Jenkins and Hernandezs mother to attend the trial, even though they may be called as witnesses. She also allowed others close to Lloyd to attend, including his mother, his sister and Shaneah Jenkins, Shayannas sister and Lloyds girlfriend.Shayanna Jenkins is accused of lying to a grand jury investigating the case and has pleaded not guilty to perjury.A hearing is set for Wednesday about two petitions by prosecutors to grant immunity to Shayanna Jenkins and one other witness, said Mark Ferriera, an assistant court clerk. Neither he nor Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the district attorneys office, would say who the other witness was, citing rules that close courtrooms for such petitions.Shayanna Jenkins lawyer, Janice Bassil, did not return an email sent Monday seeking more information about the hearing. Jenkins and Hernandez have a child together. The judge indicated there may be another hearing Thursday before jury selection begins. The trial is expected to last six to 10 weeks, and dozens of witnesses could be called, including Patriots coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft. But he is not counting on anything past this year.Im a rookie, so thats not something I really think too much about, Wynn said. I do my part, do what I can, and worry about what I can control.Wynn played 53 of the Giants 63 defensive snaps in a reserve role behind starter Cullen Jenkins last week, and will undoubtedly see extensive action again in Sundays finale at MetLife Stadium against the Eagles (9-6), who dropped out of playoff contention last week. For Wynn, a big showing against Philadelphia would cap his fruitful late-season opportunities. In his four games, he has been credited with 13 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in addition to the fumble recovery and interception.Thats significant for an undrafted player coming out of Richmond University, a school certainly not regarded as a football factory. His former teammates have been sending their congrats after his latest performance.A lot of guys hit me up saying Keep it up, Wynn said. The way I represent Richmond, it feels good. It just shines a positive light on my school.Hes gained a spotlight himself. Wynn chose to sign with the Giants over four other teams, but had not even warranted a game day uniform the first 11 games. It was only because of injuries up front, particularly to veteran Robert Ayers, Jr., that Wynn saw his first action Nov. 30 against Jacksonville.I wass always confident that if I was put in there, I could go in and make some plays, Wynn said.dddddddddddd But it wasnt time for me to play yet, so I took advantage of getting as much mental reps as I could, and at the same time go in and get an extra workout in, since Im not playing and getting beat up on on Sundays. I was going to take advantage of the mental aspect as well as the physical.Coach Tom Coughlin said it was just a matter of time before Wynn got his chance. Nothing Wynn has done has surprised him.Kerrys been with us a long time, all through training camp, Coughlin said. He impressed us all the way. He just plays hard. He loves to play. He has a unique ability to be in the right place at the right time.Coughlin said Wynn has most impressed him with his ability to control his running lane. Yet, he also has the speed and power to collapse the pocket and hit the quarterback. Wynn has three quarterback hits.Sundays sack, fumble recovery, and interception lifted his future profile. That was being in the right place at the right time, Wynn said. But it felt good to be in a position to help my team get a victory.NOTES: Responding to Rams coach Jeff Fishers assertion that the Giants bore the bulk of responsibility for last weeks first-half brawl that started when linebacker Alec Ogletree took a shot at demonstrative rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham out of bounds, fellow rookie Andre Williams said there was plenty of blame to spread around. I dont know whos at fault, Williams said. I dont think celebrating is any reason for a fight to break out. He said he could feel a charged atmosphere on the field. Im not sure what the spark was, but Im not sure you can point to any one person. There were a lot of bloody hands at the end of it, so Im not sure....
